We have Don and Lillian Stokes's guide for the southeastern US. It's especially nice because it's organized by color, making it easier to identify a mystery bird you see.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8173453322997227658.post-52503573619156627422011-05-17T11:05:58.060-04:002011-05-17T11:05:58.060-04:00So, apparently I need to check your blog to know w...So, apparently I need to check your blog to know what to be on the look out for. First you saw a northern flicker - then we did a week later. Then you saw an indigo bunting - and after I commented on this post earlier - we just saw one at our feeder at 11:02 a.m.!! What a gift!Hodgepodgemomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18365766887179806646noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8173453322997227658.post-35998065703925112252011-05-17T08:31:42.780-04:002011-05-17T08:31:42.780-04:00Gorgeous!! Of course, we have turkey vultures as well. But our backyard may not be the best place to see anything else :)Blossom Barden (NorthLaurel)https://www.blogger.com/profile/07809939585303395939noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8173453322997227658.post-57066919937034662642011-05-16T23:37:06.806-04:002011-05-16T23:37:06.806-04:00Wow... Thanks for the whatbird.com tip, I will have to make it and try to see if I can identify some common birds that are new to me. I'm starting on this because I'm tired of seeing so much beauty and only be able to say bird! ha ha ha.<br />Very interesting the fact about the feathers color.Silviahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17249978624747684879noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8173453322997227658.post-12348367815686525672011-05-16T21:46:49.823-04:002011-05-16T21:46:49.823-04:00Hi, Jamie! They tend to favor abandoned lots or cleared areas near treelines. This one was hanging out in a cleared area near the stables with a wooded area nearby. He was really striking!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8173453322997227658.post-92081012116742245562011-05-16T20:34:37.860-04:002011-05-16T20:34:37.860-04:00Oh, we've always thought those are so pretty b...Oh, we've always thought those are so pretty but have never seen one!
